Blackhearts Event w/ Nicole Castroman & GIVEAWAY!

                Hello everyone!  Another Monday, and if your weekend was anything like mine it flew by in the blink of an eye leaving you wanting more.  I'm pretty sure mine has something to do with getting my sleep schedule off but it was worth it.  If you remember I was going to the Blackhearts (review) event in Decatur at the wonderful Little Shop of Stories, they always have such fun events.  I had so much fun there and even made some new friends!  While there I also had a second copy signed to give away to one of you lovely readers along with some bookmarks and post cards so yay stay tuned for that at the bottom. 

                I end up driving some distance to go to these events which are well worth it but given my fear of being late to anything and the uncertainty of traffic I generally show up an hour or so early.  Though in my defense normally I end up grabbing coffee of dinner with a friend first but this time I was one my own and made new friends like fellow blogger Angela (@AngelaJC94)!  So before the event we have the wonderful chance to just chat with Nicole, who also showed up early, and just discuss.  Also funny thing is I knew she looked familiar, I'd seen her at tons of events before but as a fan and not an author.  Funny how things don't click right away.  Anywho we got to discuss all things Blackhearts, pirates, corsets, and just bookish fun in general which was a real treat.  See it pays to be early!  I also got to get my name tag all ready with my pirate name: Buccaneer Bones Barnacle.

                 After that we all got situated in our seats and had a fun Q&A where she discusses how she came up with the idea for the story, some of her favorite parts, and so on which having already read the book I was completely fascinated by.  I had a ton of questions but as I know not many had already read the book and they could be somewhat spoilery I held off… and I maybe asked them pre-event already.  Nicole also share the story of Blackbeards flag and some of the facts she learns while researching him.  There isn't a lot know about him which just makes her tale of how he turned into the legendary pirate seem like the perfect fit.  She also warned that it is a landlocked tale, a pre-pirate story without the swashbuckling. Though there is hope for another book, because it takes some time to turn from a gentlemen of society to a pirate.  I'm hopeful and keeping my fingers crossed the publishers will see this as well because honestly I just need more!

                 After that we had the signing line and more jabbering with fellow book nerds.  I even had the chance to meet Roshani Chokshi who has a book on my TBR list coming out in April The Star-Touched Queen which was pretty cool.  The whole night was just a fun experience and just cemented why I love the book community so much.  That's all for the talking.  Now on to the giveaway.  So as I mentioned I got a copy of Blackhearts signed for one lucky winner (US only this time sorry) as well as a couple little swag items.  I'm leaving it open for two weeks, that's 3/7/16.  Take a moment to enter below!
