“Waiting
On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that
spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. Basically books that are not yet out that we
are dying to get our hands on. This
week’s pick is:
One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus
Out: 5/30
From Goodreads:
One
of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into
detention and only four walk out alive.
Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
Pay
close attention and you might solve this.
One
Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn,
the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy,
the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate,
the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper,
the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And
Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only,
Simon never makes it out of the classroom.
Before the end of detention Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death
wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he
died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to
post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes
all four of them suspects in his murder.
Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone
has secrets, right? What really matters
is how far you would go to protect them.
Why I’m Waiting:
So
this sounds like a murder mystery twisted version of the Breakfast Club. Yeah that was my first thought so I’m totally
going to have to check this one out. I
like the plot idea and I do love a good mystery.
What
are you waiting on? Tell me below what
you think of this title and leave a link to your WoW as well so I can check it
out.
This is one I'm excited for too. Somewhere I read that it was a cross between The Breakfast Club and Pretty Little Liars, which sounded amazing to me!

ReplyDeleteI know how cool does it sound?
DeleteThis is one of my most anticipated releases of the month and it's probably one of the most intriguing books I've come across in a long time. I think the fact that I've never read or heard of anything like it helps! I'm waiting for a lot of books to come out during May so, you can check my Most Anticipated Releases post @ Book Lady's Reviews! Thanks for sharing!

I know I haven't read anything like it either!
DeleteMy daughter just read this and it's on my bed stand TBR. She loved it and rolled it into an English project she had to do. She got an A!
