Hello
everyone! Top Ten Tuesday is just how it
sounds, a topic is picked and we put our Top Ten for that in a post and share
and check out everyone’s answers. Top
Ten Tuesday is now being hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.
The top ten today is: Books I think I’ve decided against reading (at
the moment)
The Vampire Diaries series by L.J. Smith- I started reading before the show ended up
liking the show way more. Also I hate Damon...I made it like 5-6 books in and I
still hate him for stuff from book 1 lol.
The Fallen series
by Thomas E. Eniegoski- So I started reading this when I heard there was a TV
movie featuring one of the vamps from The
Vampire Diaries so yeah I read…they didn’t really capture me.
Riley Bloom series
by Alyson Noel- I enjoyed the original series back when I first started out but
I never go into the books from Riley.
Thirst series
by Christopher Pike- I go back and forth on this, more now since I’m only
apparently one book from finish it (thought I had more than that) the story was
interesting but I remember it being a bit too far out there for me.
Immortal
series by Gillian Shields- I read book one forever ago and I’m pretty sure I picked
it up because the cover was pretty. I
have the other books but I don’t remember what the first one was about fully so
not sure if I’ll finish them.
Dark Guardian series by Rachel Hawthorne- I found the whole series for super
cheap and I was looking to stock up my shelves and thought they looked cool….I
ended up with way too many books I will never catch up on and I don’t remember
what they are about anymore.
Eve series
by Anna Carey- I don’t think I ever knew what these were about but I got them
because the cover was pretty and the title was my name!
A Shade ofVampire series by Bella Forrest- So a friend recommended this to be forever
ago and I got the first couple on my kindle thinking I would dive in before too
long. Cut to recently when I was looking
through and found them and realized that there are like 55 books in the series
and that is just a bit too intimidating for me at the moment. That’s a serious commitment.
Under theNever Sky series by Veronica Rossi- So these had pretty covers for me and
looked interesting when I first started out but I never got to them and now I
don’t have that desire for them as I did back then.
Tempest
series by Julie Cross- the first cover drew me in and I was in an angel faze
having just read like Hush, Hush, Halo, and Fallen and thought this would be one but it was actually about time
travel or something I think but I didn’t pick it up again and now here it sits
on my shelf.
So
what do you think? Should I give any of
these a try? What have you given up
on? Tell me what you think of my list in
the comments below. Also please link
back to your Top Ten as well so I can check out your list and see what I
missed!
None of these are books I tried myself...I've heard of most but they didn't pique my interest enough to start!
ReplyDeleteSee that is the kicker I don't know if these are books I would pick up now.
DeleteI hadn't realized that 'Shade of...' Vampire series has so many books. That's insane! I too went through an angel-themed reading frenzy, I still have a love/hate relationship with Hush, Hush. I think it's my favorite terrible book series. Like, it's so bad, but I love it anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Marie @ Pages to Explore
haha I can enjoy so many books but I think sometimes you get overloaded. When you read 8 different vamp/angel/werewolf/etc series back to back they get a bit old. So I've found I like to jump around to keep things fresh :)
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but I did watch the entire Vampire Diaries series. I had a friend tell me the show was better than the books, so I've decided not to read the books...for now. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteHaha yes I agree with your friend!!!
DeleteI read Thirst years ago but can honestly say, it wouldn't interest me now. In fact, I can see what these made it to your list. Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteYes but now that I've made the list and know I only have one left to finish....I might just go for it because it's so close!
DeleteI wouldn't even consider picking up the books from The Vampire Diaries to be honest. There's no way I'd like those better than the show - and that's saying something coming from a bookworm, right? I can't even imagine ever hating Damon again so those books are definitely not for me, I reckon!
ReplyDeletehaha I know the show was amazing fun for me to watch with my bestie!
DeleteOooh I haven't read a single one of these either but none are on my TBR either. Several were at one point but my tastes have definitely changed over the years.
ReplyDeleteI know same here but I never get rid of things it's physically painful to get rid of some things (books/movies are the worst)
DeleteI gave up on Eve. I really didn't enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI never even started but I was thrilled to have a character named after me let alone a whole SERIES (spelled Eve not Eva or Ava because despite what my grade school teachers said they are not the same)
DeleteI hope you give Under The Never Sky a read sometime. I really enjoyed all the books myself. The characters are so precious!
ReplyDeleteYeah see that was one of those I was unsure of but who knows I'm not tossing them so they may end up resurfacing again!
DeleteFunnily enough I enjoyed the Riley series more than the original ones about Ever! Then again, that's probably because I read Riley first (when I was like 12 lol--I didn't read Ever's books until several years later). I agree with you on Under the Never Sky...I've pretty much given up on getting back to that series. I really loved the Tempest books though! Especially the third one :)
ReplyDeleteSee I was older when I started so her story seemed a bit too young for me.
DeleteIt took me a long time, but I finally read Under the Never Sky. I enjoyed it, but it's been a while and honestly, it's kind of a forgettable book.
ReplyDeleteYeah same for me with some of these.
DeleteI've read a couple books by Anna Carey but not that series. And I guess I didn't really know that Vampire Diaries was a book series... or maybe I did but forgot. I did watch a few episodes of the show ...
ReplyDeletehaha yeah it is amazing how many things you watch now that started as books!
DeleteI remember reading Thirst a few years ago. I also thought it was interesting but a bit unusual. I don't think I ever managed to finish A Shade of Vampire but I can't remember the reason. The last series I gave up on was Falling Kingdoms. It just wasn't what I was looking for at the time but it's not a bad series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, here is my Top Ten Tuesday
~Elena
Yeah well while I may have wanted to check out the Shade series 55 books is insane lol!
DeleteHaha, totally agree with you on The Vampire Diaries series. At some point I wanted to read it too, but now when I have already watched the whole series (and I loved it) I kind of feel it little pointless to read the whole thing again?
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2018/02/ten-books-want-read-beautiful-covers-featuring-black-women/
oh and from the 5 or so books I read in the series WAY WAY WAY different. Like different universes basically.
DeleteI know this TTT is about books people aren't going to read, but it's such a great way to learn about new authors and books I haven't heard of before -- like these!
ReplyDeletehaha I know I have seen some on other lists that I think sound right up my alley! They are great because everyone is different!
DeleteI read The Fallen series in high school and I was pretty hooked - I had no clue there was a tv movie though - huh!
