Hey
bloggers! So in case you missed it
somehow The Avengers comes out today
or for total nerds like myself there was a midnight showing last night. I’m also nearly finished with the book I am
currently reading but due to recent events I have been busy this week but hope
to have it for you in the next couple of days too.
So
back on target. The Avengers kick ass. Now I
won’t lie and say I’m what you would call a die hard fan. I didn’t grow up watching it and I can’t tell
you what happens next in the series or what but I did like the individual
movies. I adore Stark as Iron Man his
whit is just beyond words. Captain
America was nifty as well. Thor brought
us the story of the gods and hehe Loki who is oh so good at bring bad. Now through Iron Man we (non-die hard fans)
were introduced to Black Widow and Directory Furry. I can say I’ve never seen any of the Hulk
movies though, so as far as he goes I had nothing to go by other than brilliant
man is exposed to gamma rays and when he gets angry he becomes big green
beast. Now as I re-watched Thor before
posting due to someone mentioning that Hawkeye was in it I had to double check
and wow he is briefly I don’t know how I missed it.
So
the movie itself I had no expectations as to what to expect in a sense of
story. I expected action, some comedy,
and the brilliant whit of Stark. I got
just that and then some.
The
story, if you don’t know follows Loki to Earth and he is doing what he does
best and is causing issues. He is trying
to open a portal to bring about a war so he can rule Earth of course. To stop him Director Furry brings together
Captain America, Stark, Banner (Hulk), & Natasha (Black Widow) to try and
prevent this end of days. Thor manages a
trip back to Earth as well to try and capture his brother and bring back the Tesseract
the power source aka evil cube of death.
This fight isn’t easy though with the confusion and distrust amongst its
team so they must find a way to work together and save the world.
The
actors all did a great job. As mentioned
before I adore Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
The whit, sarcasm and just plain attitude just roll off of him so well I
can’t imagine anyone else playing him.
Now we have pretty much everyone returning in their rolls like Chris
Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, to
name a few. They all did amazing jobs
with their characters. I even enjoyed
Mark Ruffalo as Banner/Hulk. Each
brought a depth to the character (or continued it from the previous movies),
and you got to know them better. Some we
didn’t know very well from the previous movies were more flushed out.
For
example we get more depth to Natasha which was great I had no idea her history,
her story. Now I feel I know more. I learned more about many of the
characters. It also wouldn’t be a true
post by me without mentioning that this movie was amazing on its own merits but
it also has some fabulous eye candy. Yes
the cast is full of hotties. I also have
to give special notice to which I’m sure A Girl will elaborate on,
Hawkeye. Oh he was yummy.
If
that isn’t enough for you then you can be rest assured there is plenty of
action. Lots of people fighting and you
get to see some pretty interesting mash ups.
Even I thought after watching the individual movies who would win if one
fought the other and such. All done
really well and so cool on the huge theatre screen larger than life, I’ll call
it super hero size.
Well
I obviously give this movie 5 stars, who wouldn’t. So you should go check it out ASAP. Also stay for the credits. Not just the little tidbit that happens after
the first break in credits but to the super end after everything plays out and
the screen goes dark there is something there.
No leaving out early or you miss out.
So tell me what you think? Have
you seen it yet or plan too? Are you a
fan like me or a true die hard fan? I
can’t wait to hear what you all have to say.

Hi Eve- Didn't see the Avengers yet, but I totally plan to now.
ReplyDeleteI am also a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman. He is truly brilliant at playing this character. And Chris Helmsworth (sigh) as Thor, is so drool worthy- pretty much a win-win for me there!
Thanks for posting this great review.
I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. I can't wait to see what you think after.
DeleteYes brilliant for sure and pretties. Thank you for reading and commenting.
I'm is, at that. First things first, though. The Avengers has risen in rank and is esteemed as an excellent Sarah Leigh chick flick. Watching my childhood friends in a larger than life capacity made me all warm and fuzzy. The performance and mechanics were awesome to the point of, dare I say and we know that I do, epic proportions!
ReplyDeleteI know Loki is the bad dood, but I cannot help it. I am utterly charmed by that grin and his ability to be vulnerable while doing evil deeds. It is most perplexing, this crush I have on his grin, especially since he isn't an attractive fellow.
Now, let's elaborate. I've seen Mr. Renner in various movies and though I've longed considered him as a handsome piece, seeing him through the eyes of a Hawk has, well, opened my eyes. Arms banded with muscles which beg to be touched, he is decadently, scrumptiously beautiful. Sinfully so. Moving with a supple, fluid grace which belies his militaristic bearing, I was literally transfixed. I couldn't rip my gaze away. Watching him, I was reminded of the lithe power of a panther, tightly coiled and contained beneath sleek, glossy fur. Beautiful yet deadly. What drives a mam to be so self-contained? I longed to soothe his brow and to trace the contours of his body so much so that I could almost feel my fingertips glide over his smooth, heated flesh. Here's a man who can and will make a girl appreciate being a woman. Like a balm, his strength would wrap you in a cocoon of blissful security, easing any possible worries before whisking you away to scale a mountain and to breathe in the frosty air of excitement. He's kinetic in a still sort of way. In summary, the man is majestic in the way that only nature can be, wildly primal with a hint of softness. He's mesmerizing and for those of you who know me, you know that I am not easily captivated.
The others deserve honorable mention, but they pale in comparison to my main squeeze. All but one, that is. Tony Stark is unapologetically male. He is bodaciously good at being bad and we all love it! His facial expressions change so minutely, but the differences are well noted. Swag. The man has swag. I fancy he could call someone a dirty hooker and they'd just smile in a dazzled sort of way. While his physique is impressive and well defined by his smart, snazzy clothing, the most alluring thing about Tony is the eloquence and confidence with which he speaks. He's perfectly certain that you're perfectly certain about him, which MAKES you perfectly certain about him. Tony's the man you crave when you want more than just a pretty face, which he definitely possesses. Though he was cute in an off-beat sort of way in his younger days, allow me to say that age looks good on him. Antique silver. Brilliant when polished, quaint and historical when untouched. Devilishly sexy, witty, and charming. "Then don't take my stuff!" Tehe hehe.
I'm sleepy and my eyeballs are still fussing at me about the Febreeze incident, so I'm closing with this: amusing, pretty, and bad A! Watch it. Love it. Demand the sequel.
There you are. I knew you'd comment and fill in the extras hehe. Yes I know your fascination with Loki and his mischievous behavior and smirk to match. I admit he is a good bad guy for the story.
DeleteHaha let's just say I agree with your thoughts about Renner. Same for Stark. Yep he is male and brash but he gets away with it in the best sense. Yes I think others learned not to take his stuff.
I'll close my reply with a helpful tip. Maybe your eyeball wouldn't protest if you didn't spray Febreeze in it. Just a hunch :) Though hope it feels better.
To be fair, I didn't intentionally douse my eyeballs with the fiery pits of hell. The wind conspired against me.
DeleteBy the way, I meant to type man, as opposed to mam. Yep. I'm still the reigning queen of typographical errors.
ReplyDeleteYes I figured that's what you meant and yes you are.
DeleteI'm is what I'm is. At least you've learned to read Sarah Leigh. :-D
