Hello
everyone! Top Ten Tuesday is just how it
sounds, a topic is picked and we put our Top Ten for that in a post and share
and check out everyone’s answers. Top
Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
The top ten today is: Reading Wishlist
Sarah
J. Maas- Yeah so this isn’t specific but I just want more of both of these
series because OMG I LOVE them so so much!
I’m still having withdrawls from ACOWAR (review) and it seems too long
of a wait for more!
Strong
friendships- I love books with good friendships. I especially like when the friendship seems
real and genuine and there is proof of that being so other than just told
it. Ups and downs and not always
agreeing but in the end the bond is there.
Real
parents- I want parents who aren’t just used as a plot device or to die
tragically. I want parents who make me
think of real parents and are normal. I know
there are tons of different parenting types out there from overprotective or
those who are just crappy but I want to read about some that seem…normal.
Guy/Girl
platonic friendships- I love the idea of friends who end up finding something
more it’s sweet and cute. Still as a
girl with lots of guy friends growing up that were strictly platonic on both
sides it was great and I think not seeing it makes people think it can’t
happen. This also doesn’t count if one
part of the friendship is gay/lesbian.
Side
note to this one I’d also like the respective partners of the friends to not be
super jealous of the friendship. I don’t
want the fact that they are opposite sex friends and close to be an issue.
Travel
stories- I don’t get to travel as much as my heart desires (until I win the
lotto anyways) so reading about characters who get to travel to places I’d like
to go is fun. Even better when they seem
to have a realistic budget and/or story to how they financed their trip!
Nerd/Geek
books- I love books where the characters are total nerds about certain things
like I am. It makes them relatable in a
different way. They can in no way be “nerdy”
because they are good in school, like to read, or something like that but to
really fangirl about “something” that they could talk about for hours with
someone and be totally content
Tell me what you think of my list in the
comments below. Also please link back to
your Top Ten as well so I can check out your list and see what I missed!
Guy/Girl platonic friendships, I totally agree with you here. And also I wonder where all the parents have gone, in so many YA novels one or both parents are out of the picture.

I did laugh at myself as I wrote about parents as the story I'm working on myself has deceased parents...
DeleteGreat list! I especially agree on platonic girl/guy friendships, I really need more of those!

I kind of want to write this story the more I think about it.
Deleteit's so exciting to see more and more people (including myself) wanting platonic friendships in books. I really hope it becomes a thing soon.

I mean don't get me wrong I love me some romance in my stories but I also have great friends and I would like to see more of that too!
DeleteYes, the platonic friendships are really interesting! More of that, please! Great list.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like the biggest hit and one I've seen on others posts as well! I'm so excited with the idea of reading more books like this in the future.
DeletePlatonic friendships! Why didn't I think of that one!
