~Can't Wait Wednesday~ Leah on the Offbeat

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  I am spending the day at work hoping to squeeze in my other half....of the book I'm currently reading because I'm single but hey tomorrow chocolate goes on sale!  Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Waiting on Wednesday has been don for some time so I am switching it up for now!  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Out:  4/24

From Goodreads:
Leah Burke—girl-band drummer, master of deadpan, and Simon Spier’s best friend from the award-winning Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda—takes center stage in this novel of first love and senior-year angst.

When it comes to drumming, Leak Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic.  An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged.  She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it.  And even thought her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.

So Leah really doesn’t know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways.  With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high.  It’s hard for Leah to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting—especially when she might love one of them more than she ever intended.

Why I’m Waiting:
I loved Simon so of course I want to know more about this world and these characters.

What are you waiting on?  Tell me below what you think of this title and leave a link to your WoW as well so I can check it out.

  6. This sounds good, I like books that explore that uncertain time when high school is drawing to an end and college/ after high school life is looming. Looks fun!
