~Can't Wait Wednesday: Circle of Shadows~

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

Circle of Shadows by Evely Skye
Out:  1/22/19

From Goodreads:
Sora can move as silently as a ghost and hurl throwing stars with lethal accuracy.  Her gemina, Daemon, can win any physical fight blindfolded and with an arm tied behind his back.  They are apprentice warriors of the Society of Taigas—marked by the gods to be trained in magic and the fighting arts to protect the kingdom of Kichona.

As their graduation approaches, Sora and Daemon look forward to proving themselves worth of belonging to the elite group—but in a kingdom free of violence since the Blood Rift Rebellion many years ago, it’s been difficult to make their mark.  So when Sora and Daemon encounter a strange camp of mysterious soldiers while on a standard scouting mission, they decide the only thing to do to help their kingdom is to infiltrate the group.  Taking the risk will change Sora’s life forever—and lead her on a mission of deception that may fool everyone she’s ever loved.

Why I’m Waiting:
So I really enjoyed her other books and I am excited to see this new world.  That’s really all I need but the cover and the summary don’t hurt either.

What are you waiting on?  Tell me below what you think of this title and leave a link to your CWW as well so I can check it out.

~Can't Wait Wednesday: The Queen's Resistance (The Queen's Rising #2)~

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

The Queen’s Resistance (The Queen’s Rising #2) by Rebecca Ross
Out:  3/5/19

From Goodreads:
At long last, Briena is a mistress of knowledge and is beginning to settle into her role as the daughter of Davin MacQuinn, a disgraced lord who returned to Maevana to reclaim his house.  Though she’d just survived a revolution, one that will finally return a queen to throne, she faces yet another challenge:  Proving herself trustworthy to the MacQuinns.  But as Queen Isolde Kavanagh’s closest confidant, she’ll have to balance serving her father’s house as well as her country.  And then there’s Cartier, a wholly separate but desirable factor in her new life.

Aodhan Morgane, formerly known as Cartier Evariste, is adjusting to the start contrast between his pre-rebellion life in Valenia as a master of knowledge and his current one as the lord of a fallen house.  During the castle’s restoration, he discovers a young boy named Tomas, whose past and parentage are a complete mystery.  So when Cartier’s former pupil Brienna is as taken with Tomas as he is, he lets his mind wander—what if he doesn’t have to raise him or his house alone?

As the Lannon trial swiftly approaches, Brienna and Cartier must put their love aside and stay focused on the most vital task at hand—forging alliances, executing justice and ensuring that no man, woman, or child halts the queen’s coronation.  But resistance is rumbling in the old regime’s supporters, who are desperate to find a weakness in the rebel’s forces.  And what makes one more vulnerable than deep-seated love?

Why I’m Waiting:
So book one was a huge hit with me this year. One of my favorite debut books for sure.  I loved everything about it.  I was happy with it as a stand-alone but I was thrilled to hear we’d see more in this world.  And now I see we even have a new cover!  Though I admit I’m partial to book one with the blue cloak and all but this keeps the same design and as most sequels these days are changing the scheme on me I appreciate that!  But I just want more Brienna and Cartier if I’m honest!!!!!

~Can't Wait Wednesday: The Girl King~

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

The Girl King by Mimi Yu
Out:  1/8/19

From Goodreads:
                All hair the Girl King.

Sisters LU AND Min have always understood their places as princesses of the Empire, Lu knows she is destined to become the dynasty’s first female ruler, while Min is resigned to a life in her shadow.  Ten their father declares their male cousin Set the heir instead—a betrayal that sends the sisters down two very different paths.

Determined to reclaim her birthright, Lu goes on the run.  She needs an alley—and an arm—if she is to succeed.  Her quest leads her to Nokhai, the last surviving wolf shapeshifter.  Nok wants to keep his identity secret, but finds himself forced into an uneasy alliance with the girl whose family killed everyone he ever loved…

Alone in the volatile court, Min’s hidden power awakens—a forbidden, deadly magic that could secure Set’s reign…or allow Min to claim the throne herself.  But there can only be one Emperor, and the sisters’ greatest enemy could turn out to be each other.

Why I’m Waiting:
This one caught my attention because of the battle for the crown.  I liked that it was supposed to be given to a girl and that when it is taken away she (and possibly her sister) fight for it.  Plus wolf shapeshifter….yes please!

~Can't Wait Wednesday: A Curse So Dark and Lonely~

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
Out:  1/29/19

From Goodreads:
Fall in love, break the curse.

It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall.  Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him.  But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction.  That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy.  With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive.  But when she tries to save someone else on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s instead somehow sucked into Rhen’s cursed world.

Break the curs, save the kingdom.

A prince?  A monster?  A curse?  Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe.  But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake.  And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back.  But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall…and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

Why I’m Waiting:
I saw this on another CWW recently and just knew I wanted to read it.  I didn’t even realize it was a Beauty and the Beast retelling until later but the idea is fascinating.  I love books where someone is taken from one world and put in another it just makes me wish I could do that :)
