~Can't Wait Wednesday: Ship It~

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Wishful Endings.  Waiting on Wednesday has been don for some time so I am switching it up for now!  Basically books that are not yet out that we are dying to get our hands on.  This week’s pick is:

Ship It by Britta Lundin
Out:  5/1

From Goodreads:
Claire is a sixteen-year-old fangirl obsessed with the show Demon Heart.  Forest is an actor on Demon Heart who dreams of bigger roles.  When the two meet at a local Comic-Con panel, it’s a dream come true for Claire.  Until the Q&A, that is when Forest laughs off Claire’s assertion that his character is gay.  Claire is devastated.  After all, every last word of her super-popular fanfic revolves around the romance between Forest’s character and his male frenemy.  She can’t believe her hero turned out to be a closed-minded jerk.  Forest is mostly confused that anyone would think his character is gay.  Because he’s not.  Definitely not.

Unfortunately for Demon Heart, when the video of the disastrous Q&A goes viral, the producers have a PR nightmare on their hands.  In order to help bolster their image within the LGBTQ+ community-as well as with their fans-they hire Claire to join the cast for the rest of their publicity tour.  What ensues is a series of colorful Comic-Con clashes between the fans and the show that lead Forest to question his assumptions about sexuality and help Claire come out of her shell.  But how far will Claire go to make her ship canon?  To what lengths will Forest go to stop her and protect his career?  And will Claire ever get the guts to make a move on Tess, the very cute, extremely cool fanartist she keeps running into?

Why I’m Waiting:
Okay so this basically sounds like so many of my favorite books combined and made a baby.  I get hints of Fangirl, Geekerella, All the Feels and more.  I just can’t wait to get this one and check it out.

What are you waiting on?  Tell me below what you think of this title and leave a link to your CWW as well so I can check it out.

Top Ten Tuesday: Fandoms!

Hello everyone!  Top Ten Tuesday is just how it sounds, a topic is picked and we put our Top Ten for that in a post and share and check out everyone’s answers.  Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

The top ten today is:  Fandoms I’m a part of!

La Femme Nikita- I was maybe a smidge too young to really watch this but I remember loving it so so much.  I remember trying to record all the episodes on VHS (before seasons regularly came out or there was Netflix) and being mad hey wouldn’t fit.  I could name every episode in order of every season.  It was serious.  I didn’t know what a fandom was then and had the internet been like it is now I would have found it!

Moonlight- This TV show really made me understand what a fandom is.

Twilight- I fell hard into this one when I first marathoned the books and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Disney- I’ve always been a huge Disney fan and still as an adult today love all my childhood Disney tales and watch them on the regular.  I get all gooey when I see cute Disney merch and kids finding my favorites for the first time.

Harry Potter- Do I even need to explain this one?  I found it a little later than many but I was so glad when I finally gave in and fell in love.  I still haven’t been to the park yet, but that is a goal of mine in the near future, maybe even this year.

Sarah J. Maas- Both of her series because I can’t pick just one.  The amazing talk about these and the artwork that fans much more talented than I have created…it’s intense and I love it.  She has also nearly broken all of our hearts several times over so yeah.  I would be broke if I allowed myself to shop on some of the beautiful and amazing sites.  I just reviewed and caught up on Empire of Storms in the Throne of Glass series but A Court of Mist and Fury just....it got to me on such a level I can't process!

Veronica Mars- I didn’t watch it until it was over sadly.  I didn’t have the channel at first and then once I did I couldn’t start it from the middle (I just can’t) so I watched it when they came out on DVD.  You know because streaming wasn’t as popular and I lived in the middle of the country with snail internet speed.  Bright side when I did get to watch I was able to marathon through and have done so several times and it’s always a fall back to put on and just love.  I was a huge Veronica/Logan shipper!  I was thrilled about the movie and the subsequent books.  I’m a happy little marshmallow.

Vampire Academy- This series…it just blew me away.  I waited until it was over to read and I’m glad I did because it just blew me away.  I read them all pretty quickly and just fell in love with the characters and the story and was rooting for my favorites from the start.  I remember being upset that most of my friends hadn’t read these yet and I had no idea who to talk to about it having not yet discovered all the joys of the bookish community.

Supernatural- I’ve been watching this for so long and it regularly ends up in everyday conversation even if the other person doesn’t know it.  My friends and I send back Supernatural memes and such it’s always great.

The Shadowhunter Universe- I love all of these books.  This deep and never ending world full of characters that we love is amazing.  I love how things in one era may come into play in the present day and how some immortal characters can cross over between them all.  It’s such an amazing world!

General Hospital- This is a soap which I have been watching all of my life.  I kid you not when the 50th anniversary came about there was a special People edition for it and it have time lines for each decade and such and I was reading my copy because of course I have one and I saw plot points for stories I remember and when I saw the year I actually had to stop and look it up.  Like verify I hadn’t lost my mind.  I did in fact remember story/plot points from when I was 5 years old.  WTF? Everyone watched so it was always on each day in the background and eventually I started paying close attention to it but I apparently retained much more than I thought.

I could really have just listed all the shows/series/books/things I love and filled pages and still never had enough but I figure picking out a couple of the top/active ones was enough.  I can’t really think too hard on it though because even as I get ready to post I want to add/change things.  It’s like picking a favorite book, impossible!

Tell me what you think of my list in the comments below.  Also please link back to your Top Ten as well so I can check out your list and see what I missed!

All the Feels

Hello happy readers!  So today I wanted to share a review I did for No BS Book Reviews because it was so adorable and I loved it!  I had to share it here as well but you can find my original post in full here.  But yeah I have mentioned it a few times and wanted it on here as well!  That is All the Feels by Danika Stone.

Rating:  5 Stars

This story is about a girl who is all about her fandom.  After the latest movie comes out and the lead, her hero is killed off she can't handle it and dives into her fandom for comfort.  Then an insane idea hits and with the help of her friend and her skills she plans to bring him back. She is juggling this epic task with school, family, and a pretty disastrous love life.  Oh and hanging out with her best friend. This book is full of feels!

This book was just adorable.  Seriously.  Okay so it's about a major fangirl which I can totally relate to.  She's also a bit of a recluse and spends more time with online people than in real life, again I can relate to that.

Awesome factor:  The chapters all started with a quote from a movie/series/etc that has a huge fandom which only added to my desire to get to the next chapter to see what was picked next.  It was really something extra that just made me feel all the feels, pun intended.

Liv was such a dynamic character because she had such passion for something and no one was going to deter her from it.  Liv was far from perfect and had some issues balancing things in her life but who doesn't?  I know I do.  Over time I've learned to adapt but she's still young and again something I think most can relate with.  But my favorite characteristic of Liv and what made her dear to me is her total acceptance of Xander and his steampunk cosplay lifestyle and was never embarrassed about it.  True friendship for sure.

Xander is the same way.  He is there for her and always happy to listen to her and help her out.  He had some of the best lines that just had me grinning.  The things that came out of his mouth.  Plus he was sexy as all get out and not gonna lie I kind of dig the steampunk thing.

Part of the book takes place at DragonCon.  I've heard nothing but amazing things about this event, which I am hoping to maybe be able to swing attending next year for the first time.  But to read a first time encounter from a fangirl just makes me want to go all the more.  It also made me want fast food at odd hours.

That's it.  This book is all about the feels, the emotions and connections between people, fandoms, and everything in between.  Its super fast to fly through and totally worth the read!
